We left at midnight heading south to catch the rising sun
No sleep at all, needed to get there before everyone
Not really sure what our destination was to be
We found ourselves parked in the middle of a dry, grass sea

No longer light outside nor was it actually dark
Daytime twilight brought confused callings from the meadowlark
A crowd had gathered looking upward towards the changing sky
Watching the morphing shapes of sunlight through lens covered eyes

The air started to cool, the light began to fade away
And so the sun and moon perfectly danced their rare ballet
Until a strange grey shadow brought the night to the midday

Drawn to this field through some common spirituality
We all cheered as the eclipse entered it's totality
